Funnel Cake Recipe

prep time: 15 minutes

cook time 5 minutes

INGREDIENTS

Canola or vegetable oil for frying

2 cups flour

1 1/2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)

1/4 tsp salt

1 1/2 cups milk

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Place a large skillet or pot over a medium to high heat and fill about halfway with oil. Allow the oil to heat to about 350 degrees while preparing the batter. If you do not have a thermometer, you can test the oil with a small amount of batter once it is done

  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.

  3. In a separate bowl., whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. DO NOT OVERMIX

  4. Check the oil to see if it has come to temperature. Place the batter in a Ziploc bag or piping bag. Cut the end and start piping into the oil. Allow to cook until lightly golden brown on the bottom (about 1-2 minutes) and then flip with tongs and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes or until done.

  5. Remove from the oil and continue with the remainder of the batter. Allow to cool slightly before applying the powdered sugar or your favorite toppings.

  6. ENJOY!
